Timpson Elected Otota of Effurun-Otor Kingdom Amidst Calls for Unity, Development (Photos & Video)

EFFURUN-OTOR, Delta State – Olorogun Okiotodoro Pender Timpson has been unanimously elected as the Otota of Effurun-Otor Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The election, held on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026, saw Timpson emerge victorious with all delegates present casting their votes in his favour.

Declaring Timpson as the winner, Mr. John Emuejevoke Eyube, Chairman of the six-man electoral committee, emphasized the weight of the new role.

“Olorogun Timpson, you have been entrusted with a sacred duty,” Mr. John Emuejevoke Eyube stated. “The people of Effurun-Otor Kingdom have spoken with one voice, and they expect you to be a beacon of unity, a champion of progress, and a tireless advocate for the welfare of every single person in this kingdom.

“Your leadership will be crucial in navigating the challenges and harnessing the opportunities that lie ahead for Effurun-Otor.”

In his acceptance speech, Chief Okiotodoro Pender Timpson promised to support His Royal Majesty Amb. Dr Michael Avwerotakpor, Eyareya, II, the Orovworere of Effurun-Otor kingdom concerted efforts in piloting the affairs of the people for the overall development of the Kingdom.

He expressed profound gratitude to the people of Effurun-Otor Kingdom, saying – “I am deeply humbled and honoured by the trust you have placed in me,” Timpson declared.

“I pledge to dedicate myself wholeheartedly to the service of our beloved kingdom. My primary focus will be to foster an environment of genuine unity, where every voice is heard, and every individual feels a sense of belonging.

“Furthermore, I am committed to initiating and supporting developmental projects that will uplift our communities, improve the lives of our people, and secure a prosperous future for generations to come.”

In a remarkable display of sportsmanship, Mr. Onome Frank Adogbeji, Pender’s sole opponent, extended his congratulations to the newly elected Otota.

The two men, along with their kinsmen, shared a meal, symbolizing a united front for the kingdom’s future.

Adogbeji remarked, “While the electoral process has concluded, our collective commitment to Effurun-Otor Kingdom remains paramount.

“I congratulate Olorogun Pender and assure him of my full support in his endeavors to bring positive change and development to our people.”
