Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Delta State reflects party unity.
It is worth recalling that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured 407,646 votes during the exercise on Saturday 23 May, 2026, which was conducted across all approximately 270 wards in the state’s 25 local government areas.
The result was announced on Saturday in Asaba by Delta State Governor and State Coordinator and Returning Officer for the APC presidential primary, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, following the collation of results from across the state.
Governor Oborevwori revealed that the APC had a total membership of 467,815 registered members in Delta State, of whom 407,646 were accredited and participated in the primary election.
According to the governor, President Tinubu garnered 407,646 votes, overwhelmingly defeating his only challenger, Mr. Stanley Osifo, who received zero votes.
Announcing the outcome of the election, Oborevwori stated: “By the powers vested in me as State Coordinator and Returning Officer, I hereby declare that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, having obtained an overwhelming number of votes in the presidential primary election, is declared the winner and is returned elected as the presidential candidate of the party.”
The declaration was made in the presence of security personnel, the press, and key party stakeholders, including President Tinubu’s representative, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon; Mr. Stanley Osifo’s representative, Mr. Kelvin Ezekiel; and the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren.
Governor Oborevwori commended party members and stakeholders for ensuring a peaceful and orderly process across Delta State, describing the exercise as successful and a testament to internal party unity.
Speaking after the announcement, Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, expressed gratitude to party members for the smooth conduct of the primary process.
He said: “Today marks the culmination of the party primaries, which began with the House of Representatives, Senate, House of Assembly, Governorship, and Presidential Primaries, ending today. We thank God for the peaceful conduct of all the primary elections across Delta State.”
The presidential primary marks the conclusion of the APC’s internal electoral process as the party prepares for the next phase of its political activities.
