Ughelli – Olorogun Josiah Ntekume, Chairman of the Global Initiative Support Group for Sheriff 2027, announced that the organization was formed to gather support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration to continue past 2027.

Ntekume cited the governor’s significant development achievements across Delta State as the primary motivation.

During a press interview, Ntekume characterized Governor Oborevwori’s leadership as transformative and results-oriented.

He explained that the support group’s formation followed a thorough evaluation of the administration’s performance in office.

He stated that the group’s main goal is to mobilize widespread support for the governor throughout the state’s 25 local government areas and among Deltans residing abroad.

Ntekume clarified that the organization seeks to publicize the Oborevwori administration’s successes, encourage greater citizen involvement in governance, foster unity among Delta State’s diverse ethnic groups, and cultivate a grassroots movement dedicated to sustaining development and stability within the state.

The group’s motto, “Together for Ukodo 2027,” according to Ntekume, symbolizes a call for unity, inclusivity, and shared prosperity among Deltans.

He indicated that the slogan reflects the governor’s dedication to equitable development and project delivery across various communities.

“Ukodo symbolizes togetherness and collective enjoyment. We believe Deltans will embrace the message because they can see the impact of governance through roads, schools, healthcare facilities, and economic opportunities reaching their communities,” he said.

Ntekume uses “Ukodo” as a metaphor for collective well-being and shared benefits, suggesting that the visible improvements in infrastructure and opportunities will resonate with the public and encourage their support.

The support group chairman further revealed that the organization has established a robust grassroots network across Delta’s three senatorial districts, comprising members from various demographics including youth, women, professionals, artisans, and Deltans in the diaspora.

Analyzing the state’s political landscape, Ntekume observed that Delta politics is increasingly influenced by performance, inclusivity, and strategic alliances, rather than solely by ethnic or sectional considerations.

He asserted that Deltans are becoming more focused on leaders who can deliver tangible outcomes, adding that Governor Oborevwori’s visible projects and policies have strengthened his political standing.

Assessing the governor’s three years in office, Ntekume described the administration’s performance as commendable, highlighting achievements under the MORE Agenda.

He emphasized infrastructure development, road construction, enhancements in education and healthcare, promotion of peace and security, and economic growth as some of the administration’s notable accomplishments.

While praising the governor’s performance, he urged the administration to intensify youth empowerment programs, create more employment opportunities, expand support for small and medium-scale enterprises, deepen agricultural development, and strengthen social welfare initiatives.

Ntekume also underscored the importance of continuous community engagement and the timely completion of ongoing projects to further enhance public confidence in the administration.

Commenting on the state’s opposition parties, he acknowledged their role in strengthening democracy through constructive criticism and accountability. However, he contended that the opposition currently lacks a coherent agenda capable of rivaling the present administration’s achievements.

He expressed confidence that Deltans would make informed decisions in the lead-up to the 2027 governorship election by evaluating candidates based on performance, credibility, and vision.

According to Ntekume, if the current pace of development, peace, and inclusive governance is maintained, Governor Oborevwori will receive overwhelming support from the people of Delta State in 2027.

Ntekume reaffirmed the group’s commitment to promoting what he described as effective leadership and ensuring that the progress achieved under the Oborevwori administration is solidified for the state’s continued advancement.
