Abuja – Nigeria – Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole has refuted a false statement circulating on social media regarding the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in the Delta Central Senatorial District.
The statement, titled “2027: Oshiomhole blasts Oborevwori, Sheriff for fighting Omo-Agege against choice of Urhobo,” falsely alleged that Senator Oshiomhole accused the Governor of Delta State of conspiring to sabotage the emergence of an Urhobo man as Senate President.
According to a press release signed by Hon. Victor Oshioke, Chief of Staff to Senator Oshiomhole, these claims are entirely false and should be disregarded.
Senator Oshiomhole explicitly stated that he did not make any remarks concerning the APC primary election in Delta Central.
The statement further clarified that Senator Oshiomhole has a long-standing relationship with Senator Ede Dafinone, dating back to his time as Governor of Edo State.
He also recognizes Governor Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, Senator Dafinone, and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as prominent sons of Urhobo land.
Senator Oshiomhole acknowledges the political maturity of the Urhobo people, affirming their capability to elect their representatives.
Following the successful conclusion of the APC primary elections, Senator Oshiomhole personally congratulated Governor Oborevwori on the peaceful conduct of the exercise, a gesture he extended to several other governors in the South-South region.
The Senator’s office urged bloggers, commentators, and social media users to verify information before attributing statements to public figures.
It also advised individuals dissatisfied with primary election outcomes to express their opinions openly rather than falsely attributing them to Senator Oshiomhole.
Senator Oshiomhole remains a staunch advocate of the “One Man, One Vote” democratic principle and respects citizens’ right to freely choose their representatives, regardless of political affiliation.
