The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Students Affairs, Comrade Dr. Ezekiel Oghenetega Okoh, has empowered over 500 persons with cash and over one hundred and twenty five 10 kg bags of rice, valued at millions of naira, for the people of Edjophe Community and Ughelli South Ward 8.
Dr. Okoh, speaking during the empowerment programme, emphasized that the initiative aimed to alleviate the economic hardships faced by the communities during this festive season.
He noted that this empowerment effort is part of his signature project, the Women and Youth Support Empowerment Programme (WAYSEP).
According to him, “This programme is the first initiative under WAYSEP and took place in Edjophe Community, where members of the communities making up the ward, also known as Jeremi Ward 1, along with dignitaries, celebrated and supported the initiative, which they believe will foster economic growth and self-sufficiency.”
The youthful aide highlighted that “the significance of this programme is rooted in his commitment to supporting women and youth in their various business endeavors which is part of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R E Agenda.
“This initiative provides the necessary resources and guidance to help them thrive despite the economic challenges we face,” he stated.
He praised the ongoing developmental strides under the leadership of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, describing Delta State as “a construction site.”
Dr. Oghenetega commended the Governor’s efforts in transforming the state through the continuous construction and rehabilitation of roads, bridges, and other essential infrastructure.
In his address, the chairman of the occasion, Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, Executive Director, Projects at DESOPADEC, commended the Governor for his visionary leadership and the impactful initiatives being implemented through the MORE agenda.

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, stated on Monday that Asaba is flourishing in the hospitality industry, attributing this growth to the peace and security prevalent in the capital city.
During the official opening ceremony of Telso Hotel in Asaba, the governor noted that Delta State has become a prime destination for investment, highlighting the increase in hotel establishments in the city over the past eight years.
Governor Oborevwori mentioned that despite the growth, Asaba still requires additional investments in the hospitality sector. He characterized the hotel as a significant addition to the rapidly expanding industry in the area.
“In the past eight years, Asaba has transformed significantly due to its peaceful environment, making it an attractive place for many of our compatriots from across the Niger to stay and even reside,” he explained.
He further emphasized that visitors feel safe in Asaba during the festive seasons, often choosing to stay in the city and return home the same day, which underscores the city’s security.
“This hotel addresses the growing demand for accommodation, as we occasionally face challenges in finding places to stay. We thank God for the completion of this beautiful structure, which will serve our community well. I commend the developers for their excellent work, as we seek more high-quality hotels in Asaba,” he added.
Governor Oborevwori reiterated the importance of more investments, stating, “When a location is peaceful, it attracts investors, and that’s why we see increased investment in Asaba.”
Additionally, he assured the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Professor Epiphany Azinge, of his administration’s commitment to improving the roads in the state capital.
“I want to promise you that many of the roads in Asaba will be repaired this dry season. By the time we finish, you’ll hardly encounter potholes in the city,” he stated.
The governor also mentioned ongoing discussions with the federal government about repairing some federal roads, acknowledging the occasional limitations imposed by existing contracts.
“For the roads that the federal government is unable to repair, we will take the initiative to address them, because it is our people who rely on these roads. Whether state or federal, we are committed to making the necessary repairs,” he affirmed.
Welcoming guests to the hotel inauguration, the Managing Director, Hon. Shedrack Rapu, expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for his presence and support, assuring that the hotel will maintain high standards to ensure customer satisfaction.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, has solicited the support of media practitioners in promoting the activities of the State House of Assembly and in supporting the Speaker’s office in the leadership of the 8th Assembly.
Mr. Nwaeke made this appeal on Monday during a breakfast meeting with Assembly Correspondents and other journalists in the state, held at his residence in Asaba, as part of the Christmas and end-of-year celebrations.
Addressing a gathering that included several publishers, Mr. Nwaeke explained that the breakfast meeting was necessary to strengthen the existing bond between him and his colleagues in the journalism profession.
He noted that all attendees have collaborated closely with him to ensure his success in his role.
Recalling his appointment as Chief Press Secretary by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, on December 19, 2023, Mr. Nwaeke emphasized that he could not have fulfilled his duties as CPS without the support of his family and media practitioners.
He said: “I recall that fateful day when the House was about to adjourn for the year, and Mr. Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, announced my appointment as his Chief Press Secretary.
“It came as a surprise to many, but I immediately resolved to carry everyone along, especially since most of us have worked closely over the years. My appointment as CPS can never separate us.
“This breakfast is my small way of appreciating everyone for supporting me since my assumption of office as the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Emomotimi Guwor. I want to assure you that come 2025, we will continue to synergize and work together.”
Mr. Nwaeke thanked his principal, Rt. Hon. Guwor, for approving the hosting of his colleagues, and he appreciated him for always recognizing the media’s efforts in reporting on the Assembly.

FOOSTODEY, a non-governmental organization, in partnership with Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has officially launched the “Ukodo Na Tėvwė” Initiative, aimed at providing assistance to less privileged members of society.
According to a statement from Mr. Elvis Ahior, the National President of FOOSTODEY, the initiative will deliver a monthly stipend of N20,000 to 200 vulnerable households in the Oginibo community of the Ughelli South Local Government Area.
Ahior stated, “This initiative is a practical manifestation of the MORE Agenda established by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, affectionately known as ‘UKODO,’ ensuring that support reaches our rural population in a meaningful way. Given the current yuletide season, it is essential that we, as true Christians, spread joy and love to our neighbors and the wider community.”
Comrade Reuben Izeze (Esq.), the International Facilitator and Coordinator of FOOSTODEY, further emphasized that the “Ukodo Na Tėvwė” Initiative aligns with Governor Oborevwori’s vision, particularly regarding support for the indigent and vulnerable sectors of society.
“Governor Oborevwori has consistently provided social welfare packages targeting women, widows, the elderly, youths, and students, with over 200,000 Deltans and residents benefiting from various grants. The ‘Ukodo Na Tėvwė’ Initiative also supports the Federal Government’s cashless policy and the Central Bank of Nigeria’s initiatives by ensuring that all beneficiaries have functional bank accounts.”

In a related move, Comrade Izeze made a significant donation of N2 million to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Executive Committee in Ughelli South Local Government Area to assist with Christmas celebrations.

President Tinubu conveyed this message through the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, during the wedding ceremony of Mr. Clinton Oborevwori and his bride, Knowledge Davidson, held at the Living Faith Church in Asaba on Saturday.
In his remarks, Keyamo highlighted Governor Oborevwori’s dedication to serving all citizens of Delta State since taking office, describing him as a governor for everyone, regardless of their political or religious backgrounds.
He emphasized that if leaders focus on unity rather than division, Nigeria can become a better place for all its citizens.
While extending his best wishes to the newlyweds, President Tinubu encouraged them to center their marriage around faith and to cherish their marital vows.
In a heartfelt interview at the celebration, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, other governors, and all attendees for honoring his family.
He emphasized that the President is a man of integrity who transcends political affiliations.
“Mr. President has entrusted the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo, to represent him here, and he spoke very well, bringing joy to the people of Delta,” Oborevwori shared. “We are particularly delighted as he is our in-law, with the bride having ties to our community.”
He continued with joy, “It is a great honor for the Oborevwori family to celebrate the marriage of my son today. The ceremony went splendidly, and we give praise to God. It brings immense happiness to a parent to witness their child enter marriage after nurturing them to this stage.”
The governor offered marriage advice to the couple, stressing the importance of unity and understanding. “No marriage is perfect; perseverance is key. Marriage is an ongoing journey, built on patience and mutual respect. Prayer is essential for achieving a peaceful and prosperous home.”
Zamfara State Governor Alhaji Dauda Lawal, who served as the chairman of the occasion, emphasized that marriage is a noble union that requires couples to lead exemplary lives. He noted the diverse gathering of guests as a testament to Governor Oborevwori’s inclusive leadership style.
Lawal advised the couple to foster understanding to navigate marital challenges and to protect their relationship from outside influences.
During a sermon on the significance of unity in marriage, Pastor Adekunle Shiyanbade of the Winners Church spoke about the foundations of a successful union, emphasizing the need for selfless love, honesty, and companionship. He warned that many marital issues arise from poor communication and a lack of transparency.
Pastor Shiyanbade congratulated the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Oborevwori, for their love and urged them to keep Christ at the center of their marriage, cautioning against anything that could harm their relationship.
The wedding was attended by a distinguished guest list, including the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, as well as governors from various states and other high-ranking officials. They included Governors Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Sim Fubara (Rivers), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Caleb Muftwang (Plateau), Dapo Oyebanji (Ekiti), Usman Ododo (Kogi), Hope Uzodinma (Imo), and several others from both the political and business communities.
