Asaba, Delta State – The Delta State Government has unveiled plans to host a crucial security summit, aiming to foster greater collaboration among various stakeholders to address the state’s security challenges.
Dr. Kingsley Emu, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), confirmed in a recent statement that the “Delta State Security Summit 2026” is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026. The event will commence at 10:00 a.m. at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
The summit, titled “Security: A Collective Responsibility,” will be presided over by the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori. This gathering is anticipated to unite prominent figures from across the state to formulate strategies for improving peace, safety, and security.
Expected attendees, as outlined by the SSG, include: Security agency heads, Representatives from the Armed Forces, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officials, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel, Local government council chairpersons, Traditional and religious leaders, Presidents-General of various communities, Leaders of ethnic and community youth groups, Civil society organizations, Transport union representatives and Market women associations.
Dr. Emu highlighted that this initiative demonstrates the administration’s dedication to cultivating a safer and more secure Delta State through broad engagement and united efforts. He reiterated that security is a shared responsibility, necessitating active participation from government bodies, security forces, community leaders, and citizens alike.
The state government has urged all invited stakeholders to attend and contribute constructively to discussions focused on bolstering the security framework and fostering lasting peace throughout the state.
Furthermore, the summit is expected to fortify existing efforts by security agencies and community groups in confronting new threats and ensuring the well-being of residents.
This summit is being convened amidst increasing calls for enhanced cooperation among security stakeholders.
Participants are expected to forge a unified approach to combat crime, terrorism, and other dangers to public safety in Delta State.
