How To Unblock Your NIN- barred Sim Cards

Nigerians have stormed telecommunication stores nationwide after telcos began barring following lines not linked with a National Identification Number (NIN) over the weekend.

This is in compliance with the Nigerian Communications Commission’s July 31, 2024, deadline for SIM-NIN linkage. According to the Association of Licensed Telecommunication Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), the umbrella body for all telcos, customers who have had their lines blocked are those with a mismatch between their records on both databases (i.e., SIM and NIN).

“We advise such customers to contact their service providers through communicated channels for resolution of the issue,” it said in a statement released on Monday.

It noted that all operators have put measures in place to ensure that anyone whose line is blocked can unblock it by following some easy steps:

1. Airtel: Dial *121# and input your eleven-digit NIN number. The subscriber will receive a confirmation message they have successfully unbarred their Airtel SIM card.

2. EMTS: 9Mobile: Dial *200*8#

3. Glo: Dial *109*Your NIN number#. For example, if your NIN is 12345678901, you would dial *109*12345678901#. Then follow the prompts to submit your NIN for linkage.

4. MTN: If an MTN line is barred, all the subscriber needs to do is visit nin.mtn.ng to check the NIN status, and if not linked, proceed to link it. During the process, an OTP would be requested, as well as the NIN. After giving consent and submitting the NIN linking request, it will be done, and the line will be automatically unbarred.

5. Smile: Send your valid NIN to [email protected] or call 07020444444. You will be asked to provide consent. Upon receipt of customer consent and successful verification of NIN, the line will be unbarred.

6. Spectranet: Call the toll-free line 8002345678 and submit your NIN, but you will have to do your KYC at the Spectranet Store. Customers can send an email to [email protected] and submit their NIN, but they will have to do their KYC at the Spectranet Store. Customers can go to the Spectranet website and submit their NIN online, but to complete the process, they will have to do KYC at the Spectranet Store.

7. Ntel: The customer should visit any Ntel store with their NIN. Their fingerprint is used to call up their existing KYC profile with Ntel for verification. Consent is received, and the line is updated and unbarred.

ALTON highlighted that if these online steps fail, subscribers should physically visit any walk-in centers of operators to unblock their lines

Urhobo Progress Union Urges Caution Against Nationwide Protest to Prevent Hijacking by Hoodlums

The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) has issued a stern advisory to the Urhobo nation, urging them to abstain from participating in the proposed nationwide strike out of concern that it could be exploited by unruly elements.

In a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Olorogun Luke Obemiguren Djebah, the UPU implored religious leaders and monarchs from the 24 kingdoms within the Urhobo nation to intervene by urging their subjects to refrain from engaging in the slated nationwide strike.

Djebah emphasized, “The repercussions of such an action could be dire, particularly for those reliant on daily wages, as the protest runs the risk of being hijacked by hoodlums who may act with impunity in the absence of oversight.”

He further highlighted the potential consequences, stating, “The aftermath could exacerbate existing hardships, leading to widespread hunger, escalating health crises, and even loss of life, mirroring the tragic events of the End SARS protests.

The authorities are cognizant of the prevailing challenges, and it is prudent to afford them the opportunity to address these issues.”

The advisory underscored the pivotal role of monarchs and religious leaders in dissuading their constituents from participating in the envisaged protest, advocating for a concerted effort to thwart the planned demonstration.

“Moreover,” the statement continued, “families play a crucial role in shaping attitudes and behaviors, and can significantly contribute by educating their children within the confines of their homes.”

By fostering a collective commitment to peace and stability, the UPU aims to safeguard the welfare and security of the Urhobo nation, urging stakeholders at all levels to collaborate in averting potential unrest and fostering dialogue as a means to address grievances effectively.

Comrade Emmanuel Borhayire of Edjophe community in Orhowhe sub-clan, has been officially sworn in as the President of the Emo-Ene Ughievwen Youth Council, vowing to spearhead positive changes in youth initiatives within the kingdom.

The newly appointed executive members include Comrade Macaulay Achoja as Vice President, Comrade Ekuewuphroma Richard as Secretary, Comrade Stanley Obotemu as Treasurer, Comrade Michael Situ as the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Comrade Williams Victor Upaka as Taskforce Chairman, Comrade Edeamrigho Owhes Paul Brandy as Assistant Secretary, Comrade Moses Ubiri as Spokesperson, Comrade Ekugbere Bernard Okiemute as Organizing Secretary, and Comrade Vwegba Dase as Financial Secretary.

Additionally, the team comprises Comrade Festus Ogheneruemu Idama as Auditor, Comrade Onos Omatie as Provost, and Comrade Josiah Ejini as the Social Media Influencer, with Comrades Henry Agbuke, French Oghenemine, Odjigbo EFE, and Dennis Lakpa serving as Ex-officio members.

During the inauguration ceremony, Olorogun Godwin Okporoko, the founding President of the Emo-Ene Ughievwen Youth Council, expressed his delight with the proceedings, emphasizing his commitment to supporting the new leadership in achieving success.

Representing the President General of the Ughievwen Union, Olorogun Patrick Wheleke, Okporoko highlighted the abundant mineral resources within the Ughievwen Kingdom that have attracted numerous multinational oil companies.

He underscored the urgent need for ensuring that the local youth benefit from these resources, rather than remaining marginalized and unemployed.

Okporoko urged the Ughievwen Kingdom’s leadership to rally behind the young members of the council, advocating for the prioritization of local employment opportunities over the recruitment of outsiders.

He emphasized that empowering the youth is crucial for preventing them from languishing in poverty due to lack of job prospects.

“They were encouraged to pursue the job opportunities designated for Ughievwen in a civilized and orderly manner, and to distribute them among the youths of the four sub-clans of Ughievwen Kingdom.

The youths were advised to follow the guidance of the leaders of Ughievwen Union, as they have not taken an oath to work against the goals and functions of the Ughievwen Union.

The assertion that democracy thrives on the ability of people to express their opinions and great concerns in an environment where they have genuine need for help, without resorting to violence”, resonates deeply.

As a leader, it is crucial to create an environment where family members or citizens feel comfortable in sharing their thoughts and concerns with those who lead them.

When leaders fail to listen, they risk making uninformed decisions that can have far-reaching negative consequences.

It is essential to encourage open and sincere communication, and create channels for feedback without distortions, to ensure that decisions and policies benefit everyone.

In a democratic setting, citizens have the right to express their opinions and hold their leaders accountable.

The constitution guarantees this right, and it is crucial to exercise it responsibly.
Recently, a news report highlighted a protest in a country where citizens were demanding better electricity supply at an affordable cost, without any external force hijacking their peaceful protest.

This is a perfect example of people exercising their right to express their grievances peacefully. However, when protests turn violent or are hijacked by hooligans, or externally imposed negative third forces, they lose their impact and credibility.

It is essential to maintain peace and orderliness during protests to ensure that the message is conveyed effectively to the leaders.

Leaders must listen to the concerns of their citizens, and work towards addressing them.

When people’s feelings are listened to, understood by their leaders, who consequently embark on transparent and equitable solution measures in the immediate time, the people or citizens have a higher propensity to trust and support their leaders into the longer timeframe.

As an advocate for leadership and good governance, I believe that listening to people’s complaints is essential.

During my time as a union leader, we organized peaceful protests and established communication channels to achieve our goals.

Intimidation and docility never promote good governance, nor understanding, cooperation, and productivity in any society.

In conclusion, the ability to express constructive opinions peacefully is a fundamental aspect of democracy, a constitutional right (not a privilege to the people), and good governance.

Leaders at all strata of the society have a fundamental responsibility for creating an enabling environment where citizens feel comfortable in sharing their thoughts and suggestions on ways forward, and the leaders themselves should be visibly seen as genuinely going beyond the preponderance of promises.

Their leaders need to sincerely commit themselves towards addressing their concerns under a social contract with the people they lead.

This is what builds trust in the people-leaders’ relationship management, and ensure effective governance that helps to deliver agreed mandates and promises.

Success is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders in a society that is built on trust and commitment.

Divisiveness, mistrusts and violence should be avoided at all costs.

How to Prevent Potential Nationwide Protests – Insights from Isoko Youths

The Isoko National Youth Assembly (INYA) Worldwide has proposed solutions that could help prevent the upcoming nationwide protests against hunger and hardship.

Comrade Eniwake Orogun, the President of INYA, addressed the prevailing hardship in the country resulting from rushed government policies in a statement released to the media on Saturday.

Orogun, a former President of the Students Union Government (SUG) at the University of Benin, suggested that President Bola Tinubu engage in dialogue with the protest organizers and reassess some of the administration’s policies that have contributed to the hardships faced by the populace. This approach, he believes, could avert the planned strike scheduled from August 1 to August 10.

The Isoko youth leader also appealed to both the youths and security forces to refrain from engaging in violent protests or damaging national and state assets. He urged the security agencies to handle any potential protests with civility if dialogue fails and the protests proceed.

“The current state of our nation is precarious, with various sectors facing significant challenges, including the economy, security, socio-political landscape, and overall societal well-being,” said Orogun. “While it is often said that there is light at the end of the tunnel, the length of this particular tunnel seems daunting, with no visible signs of progress in sight.”

“Our leaders must learn from the 2011 Arab Spring and the recent not too good experience of the Endsars protest from which Africa and Nigeria is yet to fully recover from and act in the best interest of the nation.

“To our dear youths and fellow comrades, we stand by you at this trying time.

“However, if the protest must hold, hopefully it does not, let us be reminded that though our right to peaceful protest is inalienable and guaranteed by our constitution, we do not have the right to be destructive and violent. No one benefits from the destruction of national assets, if anything, it increases the suffering which the protest stands against.

“To our gallant security personnel, we implore you not to fall to the temptation of responding with brute force to our people, should the protest hold.

Recognize that people are experiencing hunger and frustration, and the minimum expected of you is to fulfill your constitutional duty to protect lives and property.

“We are facing a challenging period in our history as a nation, but together we can overcome it.”

Confession: Osun Herbalist Reveals Devil’s Influence in Tragic Murder of Friend

Ganiyu Kehinde, a herbalist residing in Oba-Oke, Osun State, recently apprehended by law enforcement for the murder of his friend, Emmanuel Collins, has disclosed that he committed the gruesome act under the sway of dark forces, with the intention of obtaining human body parts for money-making rituals.
Kehinde, one of several suspects apprehended for various offenses and showcased by the police at the Osun Command’s headquarters in Osogbo, provided chilling details of the incident.
Yemisi Opalola, the spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, outlined the case, stating that a report was filed at the Oke-Odo Division in Osogbo regarding the killing of a 35-year-old Ghanaian national, Collins, by an unidentified assailant.
“Following the report, police detectives swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of Kehinde Ganiyu, a close associate of the deceased. Kehinde admitted to the brutal crime, revealing that on the night of July 9, 2024, around 9:00 pm, he entered the residence of the ailing victim while he was asleep.
“He confessed to fatally stabbing Collins with a kitchen knife and extracting his throat. Subsequently, he dried the throat for three days before burning it in a clay pot alongside ritualistic items at a site known as Igbo Imese in the Aiwosi Area of Oba-Oke village. The ashes were then mixed with soap to create a money ritual substance (OSOLE).
“Kehinde took full responsibility for the heinous act, claiming to have acted alone. The investigation is ongoing, and pending its completion, the suspect will face legal charges,” Opalola remarked.
During interactions with journalists, Kehinde, self-identifying as an herbalist, confessed to the murder, asserting that he utilized the victim’s throat in the creation of a money ritual soap.
In a remorseful confession, the self-proclaimed herbalist stated, “The deceased was my friend. I cannot explain what came over me. I found him unwell, and in a moment of madness, I attacked and killed him for a money ritual. The devil influenced me to commit this heinous act of taking my friend’s life for material gain. After the murder, I extracted his throat and used it to concoct a money ritual soap, as I have done in the past for four individuals involved in internet fraud. The devil led me astray.”
Another individual paraded was 22-year-old Effiong Saviour from Ipetumodu, who allegedly assaulted a woman with a cutlass, robbed her of her handbag containing a phone, GTB ATM card, and N6,000, and inflicted machete wounds on her.
Emphasizing the seriousness of these crimes, Opalola warned that all suspects would face legal proceedings once the investigations into their offenses were completed. She urged residents to promptly provide any information that could help prevent criminal activities in the community.

Clerics and Christians worldwide are being encouraged to model their lives after Christ Jesus, ensuring that their conduct mirrors that of their redeemer, Jesus Christ.
Ven. Emmanuel Azugo delivered this message during his farewell sermon at St. Paul Anglican Church in Ekiugbo-Ughelli, within the Anglican Diocese of Ughelli Anglican Communion.
The sermon, titled “The Beginning and the End,” drew from scriptures such as Rev. 1:8, John 1:1, and 2 Timothy 4:7.
In his address, Ven. Azugo advised all clergy and leaders to faithfully fulfill their responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of a strong start and a faithful finish.
Quoting 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith,” he echoed Apostle Paul’s call for Christians to serve as dedicated soldiers of Christ Jesus.
Speaking to reporters after the sermon, he reflected on his 44-year ministry, acknowledging the challenges he faced and the loss of a child during a missionary journey.
Despite these trials, he expressed gratitude for God’s guidance and emphasized the importance of serving God with perseverance, faith, and holiness, highlighting the rewards of faithful service.

The Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council in Delta State, Olorogun Jaro Movudu Egbo, has announced the appointment of 8 persons to fulfill various crucial roles within the council.

Iwuanyanwu passed away on Thursday after a short illness, as confirmed by his son, Jude Iwuanyanwu, in a statement acquired by DAILY SHINE.

The late Chief Iwuanyanwu was a revered figure among the Igbo community and was the owner of various business interests, including the prominent media outlet – Champion Newspapers.
