In a press release issued on Sunday, Police Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, stated that the drug dealer was arrested on October 10, 2025, at approximately 20:45 hours, following credible intelligence.

The statement read: “Operatives of the Orerokpe Division arrested Mr. Onos Afokoghene, a 37-year-old notorious drug baron known for distributing large quantities of hard drugs within Warri and surrounding communities.

“Acting promptly on a tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer of Orerokpe Division, CSP Paul Oboware, mobilized and led his patrol teams to a known flashpoint in the Jeddo community, where the suspect and other alleged hoodlums were reportedly engaged in the sale and consumption of illicit substances.

“Sensing the approach of the police, the suspects attempted to flee, but the team swiftly closed in and apprehended Onos Afokoghene after a brief pursuit.

“A thorough search of the scene resulted in the startling discovery of illicit substances and paraphernalia used in large-scale drug sales.

“Recovered items include: 3 kg of Canadian Loud, 10 kg of Indian Hemp, 24 liters of soaked weed suspected to be Indian Hemp in dry gin (locally known as ‘monkey tail’), several sachets of Tramadol of various milligrams, and two POS machines believed to be used for drug transactions.

He stressed that achieving true progress necessitates cooperation and a renewed effort to enhance infrastructure, education, healthcare, and community empowerment.

The Governor specifically called on the Commission to address the deteriorating conditions of roads that have brought significant difficulties to commuters, underscoring that Delta State has allocated ₦35.7 billion for the rehabilitation of the Warri/Sapele/Benin Road, a crucial route linking Delta to Bayelsa, Rivers, and Cross River States.
