Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is scheduled to travel to Germany on Tuesday for an official working visit aimed at enhancing the state’s collaboration with the construction firm Julius Berger, as stated by Mr. Charles Aniagwu, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information.

During a press conference in Asaba, Aniagwu revealed that the Governor would be joined by himself and the Governor’s Technical Assistant. He was accompanied by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, and the Executive Assistant on Public Enlightenment, Projects, and Policies, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika. Aniagwu clarified that this visit is primarily a working mission intended to strengthen technical cooperation and negotiate more favorable terms for projects in Delta State.

“The aim of the trip is to reinforce our existing partnership with Julius Berger. The Governor is known for his exceptional negotiation skills, and this visit will provide an opportunity to secure advantageous agreements that will benefit the state,” Aniagwu remarked.

He stressed that the excursion is not a leisure activity, but a vital part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to improve project execution and increase cost-effectiveness.

Reflecting on previous collaborations with China, Aniagwu mentioned that they resulted in significant contract awards, including the ₦59 billion Agbor flyover and the ₦39 billion Otovwodo Junction flyover on the Warri–Patani Expressway.

Additionally, the Commissioner announced that the upcoming 2026 budget, projected at ₦1.5 trillion, will focus on capital projects, social welfare programs, and infrastructure development.

“After the approval of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, ministries will refine their submissions before they are presented to the State Executive Council,” he stated.

Aniagwu also indicated that the Governor has mandated that all empowerment initiatives, set to kick off next month, must be transparent and inclusive across all 25 local government areas. This program will be coordinated by various ministries and agencies to foster sustainable livelihoods and enhance productivity.

In the coming weeks, the state is expected to hold several groundbreaking ceremonies for new projects worth billions of naira, including the Otovwodo Junction Flyover, reflecting the government’s commitment to advancing infrastructure development.

He assured that Governor Oborevwori’s administration would not let political timelines hinder governance, insisting that contractors have been instructed to ensure steady progress on all ongoing projects.
