Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been selected to receive the Award of Excellence in Leadership at the upcoming 2025 International Conference on Hydrocarbon Science and Technology (ICHST), hosted by the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) in Effurun, Delta State.
A formal notification from the PTI Registrar, Mr. Isaac Fregene, states that the award honors Governor Oborevwori for his outstanding leadership and significant contributions to the oil and gas sector, particularly through policies and initiatives that promote sustainable development in Delta State and beyond.
The PTI acknowledged the governor’s dedication to excellence, innovation, and inclusivity in fostering growth and stability within the hydrocarbon industry. The letter highlighted that his administration’s achievements have established a notable standard for governance in the energy sector across the nation.
The conference, themed “Transforming Africa’s Hydrocarbon Sector: Balancing Growth, Environment, and Governance,” is expected to gather key industry regulators and stakeholders, including representatives from organizations such as the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), NNPC Academy, and others.
Scheduled for October 22 to 23, 2025, at the PTDF Towers in the Central Business District of Abuja, the award will be presented during the opening ceremony on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 10 a.m.
The PTI emphasized that the recognition of Governor Oborevwori underscores the increasing national acknowledgment of Delta State’s crucial role in spearheading energy sector transformation, environmental sustainability, and effective governance under his administration.
