The Office of the Delta State Governor’s wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, in collaboration with the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (DEMSMEDA), has successfully held a three-day empowerment training program for women in the creative sector from rural communities throughout the state’s three senatorial districts.

This initiative marks the first in a series under the MORE CAP-UP project, designed to enhance entrepreneurial skills among grassroots women in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s inclusive economic development strategy.

During the opening ceremony, the First Lady, represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Hon. Pat Ajudua, encouraged the participants to fully engage in the training.

She emphasized that these specially selected women have a responsibility not only to improve their businesses but also to serve as role models within their communities.

Hon. Ajudua assured the participants of the state government’s ongoing support, highlighting that DEMSMEDA would be actively involved in monitoring and evaluating their progress.

She urged them to utilize their grants wisely and praised Dr. Godwin Adolor and his team for their effective management of the training sessions.

Dr. Godwin Adolor, the Executive Secretary of DEMSMEDA and lead facilitator, explained that the training focused on financial literacy and sustainability.

He underscored the importance of not only financial empowerment but also the value of skills and knowledge for achieving long-term business success.

He commended Deaconess Oborevwori’s dedication to supporting women in the state and encouraged participants to reflect this support through their commitment to becoming job creators.

Financial consultant Mr. Charles Ojakovo spoke on the significance of integrity, creativity, and resilience in managing successful businesses.

He advised participants to adhere to government regulations, avoid unapproved business locations, and be cautious with investments.

The training sessions took place at three locations: the Felix Ibru Secretariat in Asaba (Delta North), the Isoko South Council Secretariat in Oleh (Delta South), and Ughelli (Delta Central).

These sessions included interactive segments where participants exchanged experiences, raised questions, and addressed business challenges.

The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Governor’s wife and the state government for what they termed a transformative initiative.
