Delta State Honored with Best State in Cybersecurity Leadership Award

The Delta State Government on Friday was awarded the Best State in Cybersecurity Leadership by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

The award was presented during a program themed “Building A Resilient Digital Future,” which was organized by NITDA in partnership with the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. The event took place at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

During the award presentation, Dr. Lawan A. Mohammed, Director of the Cybersecurity Department at NITDA, stated that the accolade is a testament to Delta State’s dedicated leadership in cybersecurity governance, infrastructure development, and public awareness efforts aimed at promoting digital technology adoption.

In a statement made after accepting the award on behalf of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta State Webmaster Comrade Louis Zuokumor Osiobe expressed gratitude to NITDA for recognizing the state. He noted that this honor will motivate the governor to enhance advocacy for the digital economy and cybersecurity, both of which are central to the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government.

Osiobe highlighted the governor’s commitment to establishing a robust cybersecurity infrastructure, noting that significant progress has been made in this area.

He also pointed out that Delta State has gained recognition both nationally and internationally for its tech empowerment initiatives and cybersecurity training programs offered at Delta TechHub and the Office of the State Webmaster. He urged Nigerian youth to actively engage with the digital landscape.

According to Osiobe, it is essential for individuals, organizations, and government bodies pursuing growth to prioritize cybersecurity. He emphasized that the digitalization and technology-driven strategies implemented by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori have streamlined service delivery in Delta State.

He concluded by affirming that the Delta State Government is open to investment from individuals and organizations that are eager to harness the opportunities available in the technology sector, spotlighting the various prospects at Delta TechHub and the Office of the State Webmaster.
