His Majesty, Matthew Ediri Egbi, Owawha ll, Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, has urged chiefs within the kingdom to leverage their networks and influence to facilitate urgent socio-economic progress in the area.
This appeal was made on Wednesday during a ceremony where Chief Spencer Oghenovo Duvwiama, a lawyer, was bestowed the title of Amrevughe of Ughievwen Kingdom, alongside his wife, Chief Mrs. Josephine Oghenekevwe Duvwiama, who received the title of Ochuko Amrevughe, receiving enthusiastic applause from the attendees.
While presenting the titles, Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom praised the couple for their philanthropic contributions, emphasizing that their efforts had rightfully earned them the honours.
He encouraged them to persist in their commitment to the welfare and advancement of the kingdom and its surrounding communities.
The monarch also reminded the newly appointed chiefs that the Bible presented to them should serve as a guiding principle, urging them to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with Biblical values and to uphold their titles with dignity.
During his address, Okobaro stressed the considerable responsibilities that accompany their new roles and urged Chiefs in the kingdom to shun anti-social behaviors that hinder the kingdom’s development, instead encouraging them to focus their efforts on productive activities.
In separate interviews, various leaders in the kingdom, including the Otota of Ughievwen Kingdom, Olorogun Mathew Shaire, the Otota of Uhurie sub-clan, Olorogun Christopher Otobrise, the Otota of Owhawha sub-clan, Olorogun David Uhawha, the President General of Ughievwen Union, Olorogun Akporuru Patrick Whekeke, and Olorogun Patrick Onajophe, conveyed their congratulations to Chief Duvwiama and his wife, urging them to abide by the traditional expectations of the Ughievwen Chieftaincy Council.
In their comments, Chief Spencer Duvwiama and Chief Josephine Duvwiama expressed their gratitude to the Okobaro for the recognition, stating that the honor would inspire them to continue their service to humanity.
The event was enlivened by a traditional udje performance, adding a cultural touch to the Chieftaincy celebration.
