Delta Governor Offers Condolences to Elumelu Family on Patriarch’s Death

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed his profound sympathy to UBA Plc Chairman, Mr. Tony Elumelu and his wife, Dr. Awele Elumelu, following the loss of their father, Chief Israel Ogbue.

The former Chairman of United Bank for Africa passed away at 99 years old, remembered for a lifetime marked by principled leadership, dedicated service, and deep commitment to his family.

In an official statement delivered by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on Sunday, Governor Oborevwori honored the late elder statesman as a figure of notable humility and grace whose influence touched countless lives.

The Governor highlighted Chief Ogbue’s well-regarded kindness, philanthropic spirit, and steadfast dedication to both his family and the wider community.

He reflected that the nonagenarian modeled the ideals of a faithful husband, a compassionate father, and a devoted grandfather, leaving a legacy that serves as an inspiration for others.

Governor Oborevwori also noted that the late Chief’s generous nature and eagerness to support others won him widespread respect extending well beyond his personal and professional networks.

Extending the condolences of the Delta State government and its citizens, the Governor urged the Elumelu family and the entire Ogbue lineage of Onicha-Olona to take solace in their patriarch’s distinguished life and the cherished memories he created.

He expressed gratitude to God for granting Chief Ogbue a long, impactful, and rewarding life, and voiced a prayer that his descendants would uphold and advance his enduring legacy.
