Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended formal congratulations to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, following his election as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.

Guwor secured the position during the Conference’s General Meeting in Abuja on Monday—an appointment that elevates Delta State’s stature in national legislative leadership and reinforces collaborative efforts among state assemblies.

In an official statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori hailed the selection as a merited recognition of Guwor’s extensive legislative expertise, distinguished leadership, and unwavering dedication to democratic principles.

Reflecting on his own prior role as Treasurer and Deputy Chairman of the Speakers’ Forum during his tenure as Delta Speaker, Oborevwori emphasized the strategic importance of the Conference in Nigeria’s democratic framework.

He noted its critical function in enhancing cooperation across state legislatures and advancing accountable governance.

Oborevwori asserted that Guwor’s new leadership role not only marks a personal milestone but also underscores the political maturity, institutional stability, and forward-thinking disposition of the Delta State legislature.

The Governor voiced strong assurance that Guwor will steer the Conference with discernment, a unifying approach, and a focus on progressive reform—ultimately fostering deeper collaboration among state assemblies and other tiers of government to accelerate national development.

Political observers regard Guwor’s election as a substantial enhancement of Delta State’s influence in federal legislative matters and as affirmation of the state’s expanding role in strengthening democratic governance nationwide.
