Breaking: Assassins Fatally Kill Community Leader, Another

By Admin

Unidentified gunmen, believed to be involved in cult-related activities, have killed the President-General of the Ogidi community in Anambra State’s Idemili North Local Government Area, Ikwuka Okoye, widely known as Anumili.

The attack took place late Friday at the School Field in Ogidi and is thought to be an act of retaliation by a rival cult group following the earlier arrest and death of their leader, who was apprehended by local security personnel.

During the assault, another man, whose identity remains unknown, was also shot and killed.

Local witnesses report that the incident has caused significant unrest in the community, with both residents and officials denouncing the violence. They emphasized that Okoye had been democratically elected to his position.

One anonymous source recounted, “Armed assailants stormed our community last night. When they left, the President-General, Sir Ikwuka Okoye, and another victim, who was a relative of his, were found dead.”

The Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, verified the event in a statement released on Saturday.

Ikenga indicated that the killings appear connected to the recent apprehension and death of a notorious cult figure in the area.

He stated, “The Anambra State Police Command deeply regrets the murder of the Ogidi community President-General and another individual. This incident, occurring on the evening of February 6, 2026, at Ogidi’s School Field, is suspected to be tied to the recent capture and killing of a known cultist within the community.

“Upon receiving the report, police personnel promptly secured the scene and initiated an investigation. The command is now reviewing eyewitness testimonies and other intelligence to locate and apprehend those responsible.

“We assure the public that every effort is being made to ensure justice is served.

“Residents are encouraged to stay calm and assist the police as the inquiry proceeds.

“Updates will be provided as the situation develops.”
