…As USPC Inaugurates Ward Excos
By Sunday Apah
Hundreds of different political pressure groups in the Ughelli South Local Government Area collapsed their structures into the Ughelli South Political Colonels (USPC) on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
The groups, which included Delta Force United, Ughelli South Political Forum, Ughelli South Women for Progress, The Youth Support Group, and several others, stated that their decision to merge into the USPC was due to its uprightness, organizational structure, and all-embracing policies.

Chairman of the USPC, Olorogun John Ewenede, in his speech, noted that this gathering marked another defining moment in their collective journey to strengthen the political structure of Ughelli South from the grassroots upward.
He emphasized that the Ughelli South Political Colonels was conceived out of the need to unify political interests and provide a strong, coordinated voice for their people at every level of governance.

According to him, “Since our maiden meeting on March 23, 2025, this movement has grown in numbers, vision, and influence.
“We started with a simple yet powerful idea — that political relevance must not be concentrated in a few hands but should flow from the grassroots where the people truly reside.
“Today’s meeting is to brief and inaugurate the Ward Executives (Exco).
“Today, we officially inaugurate our Ward Excos across Ughelli South.
“This marks the beginning of a stronger grassroots coordination structure. These executives will serve as the engine room of the movement at the community level — mobilizing, organizing, and communicating our policies and objectives.
“We are delighted to welcome members and leaders from existing political pressure groups who have recognized the value in our vision and chosen to join forces with the Ughelli South Political Colonels.
“Together, we shall consolidate our political strength and speak with one voice for the benefit of our people.
“My dear brothers and sisters, the Ughelli South Political Colonels is not just another group — it is a movement for unity, relevance, and progress.
“The work ahead is enormous, but with our shared vision and unwavering determination, we shall succeed.
“Let us continue to build bridges, foster understanding, and promote collective progress. Together, we will ensure that Ughelli South remains politically vibrant, respected, and adequately represented in all spheres of governance.
“We recognize President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the leaders of our group and will work tirelessly to ensure their re-election.
He urged Ughelli South residents to obtain their voter cards and vote for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.
Deacon Matthew Kwode, Publicity Secretary, stated that the USPC has become the leading grassroots political force within the APC in Delta State.
“It is renowned for principled leadership, inclusive governance, grassroots mobilization, and the promotion of sustainable development in Ughelli South LGA and beyond.”
He emphasized that the USPC is focused on mobilizing grassroots participation through political education and community engagement, advocating for governance that addresses real issues and delivers measurable results.
“The USPC is rooted in principles of discipline, loyalty to party ideals, inclusive participation across age, gender, and class, as well as transparency, accountability, and issue-based politics.
“Our membership is open to all registered APC members in Ughelli South LGA who align with the group’s vision and support the candidacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta State, for the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
Hon. Collin Mukoro, leader of the Delta Force United Ughelli South Political Forum, who spoke on behalf of the groups that merged into the USPC, pledged their allegiance and full support to the Ughelli South Political Colonels.
They assured the USPC leadership of their unwavering support, vowing to work tirelessly for a total victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the upcoming elections.
Highlight of the ceremony was the official inauguration of a 40-member executive for each of the 11 wards of Ughelli South Local Government Area.
