...As Group Commission More Political Colonels

By Sunday Apah

Former Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development (DESOPADEC) Commissioner Olorogun Johnson Odafetite Boro has stated that he sees the men and women who make up the Ughelli South Political Colonels as brigadiers and not colonels.

Boro made this known when the executives and members of the Ughelli South Political Colonels paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Agbowhiame Town, Ughelli South LGA of Delta State.

He said he was overwhelmed by the visit from the USPC, noting that with the caliber of politicians he saw in his house during the visit, he knew that the USPC is a formidable group. “I have no doubt in my mind that this decision you have made is the right decision in the right direction.

“You and I are like a child who is hungry for her mother’s breast milk, and you provide it for the child. Before now, I had made a decision that even though we are in the APC, come 2027, we will work for Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for governor. But as God would have it, he has defected to join us in the APC.

“The women and men I have seen in my house today are the political brigadiers in Ughelli South LGA. What I have said now, people will say it’s true after 2027 because if you want to win elections in Ughelli South LGA, these are the people who go to the grassroots.

“At midnight they are working, and at the polling unit they are working because there is no one I don’t know here; they are the political field marshals.

“Now that you have made a decision to stand with Tinubu and Oborevwori, you have made my job very simple. I know that people are running around, but when the chips are down, we will select the boys from the men.

“I want to assure all of you that I am part of the decision you have made. But I want to advise all of us that I don’t like deceit because I hate betrayal.

“If you want to remain in politics for a very long time, remain stable. I urge all of you to work hard for 2027 and not take the opposition for granted. Keep winning more people because it will be better to win all,” he added.

Earlier, Olorogun John Akaruayen Ewenede, Chairman of the Ughelli South Political Colonels, alongside Publicity Secretary Dcn Matthew Kwode, stated that the objective was to introduce the group’s executives to him (Olorogun Johnson Boro) one of the APC leaders in the local government area.

According to the duo, the Ughelli South Political Colonels (USPC) is a disciplined political pressure group within the APC, committed to advancing the party’s progressive ideals in the Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

In their words, “The group seeks to strengthen party cohesion, empower grassroots members, and promote issue-based political engagement across the local government area.

“Through mobilizing grassroots participation, strengthening internal party democracy, and advocating for citizens’ involvement in the ongoing INEC registration exercises, we aim to promote the progressive ideals of the APC.

“Foster policy-driven leadership and build a disciplined, inclusive, and responsive political movement dedicated to the growth of the party and the empowerment of the community.

“Become the leading grassroots political force within the APC in Delta State, renowned for principled leadership, inclusive governance, grassroots mobilization, and the promotion of sustainable development in Ughelli South and beyond.”

They emphasized that the USPC is focused on mobilizing grassroots participation through political education and community engagement, advocating for governance that addresses real issues and delivers measurable results.

“The USPC is rooted in principles of discipline, loyalty to party ideals, inclusive participation across age, gender, and class, as well as transparency, accountability, and issue-based politics.

“Our membership is open to all registered APC members in Ughelli South LGA who align with the group’s vision and support the candidacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta State, for the forthcoming 2027 general elections.”
