Suspected kidnappers have reportedly abducted Mr. Lucky Ugbo, a government contractor, in Ogwashi-Uku, in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to reports received on Monday, the victim was kidnapped around 8:45 p.m. four days earlier at his home along Isah Road in the community.

The kidnappers made contact with his family on Sunday, demanding a ransom of N100 million.

Sources close to the community, who reside near Ugbo’s residence, described the operation as carried out by heavily armed assailants who stormed his house and abducted him at gunpoint.

“The gunmen were heavily armed and dressed like security personnel. They ambushed him near an unfinished building close to his home and waited,” one eyewitness recounted.

He added, “Ugbo was just entering his house when the assailants stopped him as his wife stepped outside to open the door. The gunmen fired shots into the air indiscriminately before forcing him into the darkness on foot.”

Community members who witnessed the incident from a distance believed the gunmen might have posed as security agents. Since the abduction, the kidnappers have contacted Ugbo’s wife twice.

They initially demanded N200 million on Sunday, and on Monday morning, they called again, lowering their ransom demand to N100 million.

When contacted, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident, stating, “Yes, it is confirmed. The police are intensifying efforts to locate the kidnappers and rescue the victim.”
