The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of at least 17 persons, including 10 suspected armed robbers, four illegal arms manufacturers, and three additional suspects linked to kidnapping and arms trafficking within various regions of the state.

These operations culminated in the confiscation of eight locally made firearms, 16 cartridges, three vehicles, and a motorcycle.

Mansir Hassan, the Public Relations Officer for the command, revealed this information in a statement issued on Sunday. He explained that these arrests were the result of intelligence-driven operations and thorough investigations aimed at dismantling criminal gangs that have been disturbing Kaduna and its neighboring states.

One significant apprehension was made following a robbery incident that occurred on June 30, 2025. During this incident, a 40-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Ismail Bello, was assaulted and stabbed by what was believed to be a passenger near the LEA Primary School in Unguwan Gwari, Kaduna.

According to Hassan, after Bello reported the attack on July 8, 2025, the Surveillance Team from the Kawo Division quickly responded and detained the suspect, identified as Nura Auwal.

Reports indicate that the suspect stabbed Bello in both the head and stomach before making off with his motorcycle, which was subsequently recovered during the arrest.

“The suspect is in custody and will face charges in court once the investigation is concluded,” the statement noted.

In a separate operation, on June 19, 2025, authorities apprehended two suspects, Sanusi Bala from Zamfara State and Nura Bala
