Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the Olomu Kingdom and the broader Urhobo nation following the death of their esteemed monarch, HRM Ovie Macaulay Popo Ovbagbedia, JP, Uhurhie-Osadjere II, the Ohworode of Olomu.
The announcement of the monarch’s passing was made by the Otota (traditional prime minister) of Olomu, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje, SAN, during a gathering at the royal palace located in the Ovwor-Olomu community, Ughelli South Local Government Area, on Saturday.
In a statement released on Sunday in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Oborevwori praised the late monarch as a figure of peace, wisdom, and cultural pride who left a lasting legacy.
The Governor extended his condolences to the royal family, the Olomu Traditional Council, and all members of the kingdom, encouraging them to find comfort in the significant contributions and peaceful rule of the departed king, who took the throne on May 20, 2023.
Oborevwori acknowledged that while the Ohworode’s reign was short, it was characterized by dignity, humility, and a strong dedication to the unity and advancement of his people.
He offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the monarch’s soul and strength for the kingdom to endure this difficult loss.
