The Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom, Oba AbdulFatai Oyegbemi, has dismissed six chiefs for their attendance at the Labour Party’s campaign kickoff event in the Apapa area of Lagos State.

The monarch expressed that the chiefs participated in the political gathering without his permission, thereby breaching palace protocols by misrepresenting him at the event.

The chiefs who have been affected include Chief Lateef Ojora (Bale Alaba Oro), Chief Saliu Biliamin (Bale Alafia Dodoro), and Chief Taiwo Hassan (Bale Oke Ira).

Also included are Chief Idris Ojora (Bale Abule Kere), Chief Hakeem Oseni (Bale Mosafejo Amukoko), and Chief Sule Balogun (Balogun of Abule Kere).

This action followed a meeting held at the palace on Monday, during which Oba Oyegbemi deemed the chiefs’ conduct unacceptable.

In a statement obtained by our correspondent on Tuesday, it was noted, “In light of the events that transpired without his prior knowledge, Kabiyesi Ojora convened the Bales, Balogun, and the Ojora Councils at his historic Palace for clarification.

“In a manner reflecting both disappointment and authority, Kabiyesi emphasized that the chiefs’ actions contradicted their responsibilities. He stressed that no chief should make decisions or act on his behalf without his explicit approval, as their roles are to represent him and uphold the traditions of the kingdom.

“The decision to dethrone the six chiefs illustrates his dedication to maintaining order and integrity within his leadership. During the meeting, Kabiyesi also took the time to praise the current government’s ongoing development initiatives in Ojora Land, reaffirming his support for the administration as it promotes growth and progress for the kingdom.”

The Lagos monarch also highlighted the importance of transparency and cooperation between traditional leaders and their involvement in political affairs, while reminding all chiefs of their duties within the respected Ojora Kingdom.
