In a significant step toward enhancing digital literacy and fostering educational inclusivity, Her Excellency Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, the First Lady of Delta State, has provided 500 uLesson tablets to students attending public primary and secondary schools throughout the state.
The event took place at Government House in Asaba on Thursday and was organized in partnership with the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
During the ceremony, Deaconess Oborevwori emphasized that this initiative represents a vital investment in the future of the children in Delta State. “Today, we are proud to distribute a total of five hundred uLesson tablets to students from Primary, Junior, and Senior Secondary Schools—one hundred for Primary schools, two hundred for Junior Secondary, and another two hundred for Senior Secondary schools,” she announced.
She further explained that this initiative is part of a more extensive mission aimed at equipping students with essential resources to thrive in a digital environment. “This collaborative educational effort between the Renewed Hope Initiative and the NDDC is crucial for our youth,” she remarked.
The First Lady expressed her hope that the tablets would encourage self-directed learning and enhance academic achievements, particularly among students from less privileged backgrounds. “It is my heartfelt prayer that the resources we provide will yield abundant returns,” she concluded.
In her welcoming remarks, the Deputy Governor’s Wife, Mrs. Catherine Onyeme, articulated that the initiative exemplifies the administration’s dedication to empowerment.
“This government is recognized for its commitment to enriching and empowering those around us,” she stated, referring to the initiative as “a symbol of progress.”
Mrs. Onyeme also took the opportunity to speak to the attending traders, urging them to utilize the support they received thoughtfully and purposefully.
Earlier in the event, the Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, underscored the pivotal role of technology in broadening educational opportunities for young learners. “With internet access, children can achieve so much using these tablets. This technology will enable them to continue making strides in the world,” he claimed, also praising the state government’s efforts toward safety and comprehensive development.
Mrs. Rose Ezewu, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, echoed her appreciation for Deaconess Oborevwori and the First Lady of Nigeria for their contributions to instilling hope and empowering the younger generation.
The occasion marked the distribution of 500 uLesson tablets to students, along with gas ovens for bakers, grinding machines for traders, and cash grants aimed at supporting small businesses.
Those receiving the aid expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Governor’s Wife and the First Lady of Nigeria for their invaluable support and encouragement.
