Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated veteran journalist and Publisher of Vanguard Media Limited, Mr. Sam Amuka-Pemu, CON, also known as Uncle Sam, in celebration of his 90th birthday.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir. Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori commended Amuka-Pemu for his exceptional contributions to the media industry and his role in nation-building as a distinguished leader from Delta State.
The Governor praised Amuka-Pemu’s steadfast commitment to ethical journalism, his relentless fight against corruption, and his strong advocacy for good governance and the rule of law.
He highlighted the veteran journalist’s impressive career, which has spanned over six decades, emphasizing the enduring influence Amuka-Pemu has had on Nigerian journalism.
Governor Oborevwori stated, “On behalf of my family, the government, and the wonderful people of Delta State, I extend my warmest congratulations to Mr. Sam Amuka-Pemu, our respected father, leader, and statesman, on his 90th birthday.
“Uncle Sam, as he is affectionately known, has made monumental contributions to the Nigerian press, reflected in the success of Vanguard Newspapers and his principled approach to crucial issues such as the rule of law, good governance, and anti-corruption.
“We owe you a tremendous debt of gratitude for your lifelong commitment to revolutionizing journalism in Nigeria through insightful editorials, accurate reporting, and fair coverage.
“It fills me with joy to join your family, friends, and well-wishers in thanking the Almighty God for His unwavering provision, protection, and guidance throughout your impressive 90 years.”
Governor Oborevwori expressed deep gratitude for Amuka-Pemu’s exemplary service and wished him continued good health and many more years of significant contributions to the nation.
