By Sunday Apah

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, declared on Monday that the state is secure and attractive for investment, commending Premium Trust Bank for establishing a robust foundation within just three years.

He attributed the interest of various corporate entities, including Premium Trust Bank, to the state’s relatively safe environment for life and property.

Governor Oborevwori made these remarks during the opening ceremony of a new Premium Trust Bank branch in Effurun, marking the bank’s 21st location and its second in the Effurun area.

Emphasizing the state’s vast investment opportunities, he noted that Delta State possesses a wealth of quality manpower, essential for meeting the demands of various industries and commercial endeavors.

He praised the bank’s significant progress in three years, which has been marked by innovation, superior banking services, and exceptional customer relations.

The Governor lauded the Managing Director, Pastor Emmanuel Emefienem, for his vision and commitment to serving the community and God.

“Mr. Emefienem exemplifies the tenacity and passion for excellence. He embodies the spirit of Warri—full of energy, ideas, and confidence,” the Governor remarked.

He highlighted that the new branch not only enriches the retail banking sector but also enhances the local economy of Effurun and Warri, key commercial centers in Delta State.

“This initiative is a sound investment as the area is ripe with business prospects. Local retailers, market vendors, business owners, and employees will now enjoy improved access to quality banking services in a friendly and secure setting,” he stated.

The Governor expressed his belief that the bank will contribute to job creation in the state.

“I am optimistic about the employment opportunities this bank can generate. Many of our qualified youths are now poised to secure jobs, whether as professionals or in various positions. Also, contractors and suppliers will also gain from the bank’s presence,” he added.

He urged the bank to focus on hiring local youths, emphasizing that Delta State is rich in talent and potential among its younger population.

“By engaging in both corporate and social responsibility, the bank can nurture strong ties with the community and earn their trust,” he stressed.

Governor Oborevwori also pointed out that the launch of the new branch reflects increasing investor confidence in Delta State, which he affirmed is a safe and favorable business environment.

“While there are still some security challenges, no society achieves 100% security. However, we are actively working to tackle these issues.

Numerous arrests have been made regarding crimes like kidnapping and robbery, although the police refrain from announcing every case to protect ongoing investigations,” he explained.

Mr. Emmanuel Emefienem, Managing Director of Premium Trust Bank, characterized the launch of the new branch as not just a growth initiative but a testament to the bank’s dedication to trust-building, community empowerment, and prosperity.

“Since our founding on April 19, 2022, we have relentlessly pursued our vision to become the most trusted and impactful bank in Nigeria, earning commendation for our resilience, innovation, and excellence,” he said.

“In just three years, Premium Trust Bank has accomplished outstanding milestones, achieving a balance sheet size of one trillion naira by the end of 2024, and currently ranking among Nigeria’s top 12 most profitable banks.

“We have received distinguished awards, including the Fastest Growing Bank in Africa (2024) and Nigeria’s Fastest Growing Bank for 2022 and 2023, along with recognition as the Most Innovative Bank and Best Workplace for Women in Nigeria.”

Mr. Emefienem acknowledged the alignment of the bank’s values—excellence, innovation, and community empowerment—with the Delta State Government’s development goals, which aim to foster economic growth and improve quality of life.

He also proudly shared the bank’s role as a lead sponsor and official banker for the 2025 National Sports Festival, scheduled for this month in Abeokuta, reaffirming its commitment to youth and sports initiatives.

As Premium Trust Bank expands its footprint in Delta State with this fourth branch and a fifth on the way, Mr. Emefienem reiterated the bank’s ongoing support for the state’s Medium-Term Development Plan (2024–2027).

He promised continued collaboration with the government to foster a conducive business environment, support SMEs, enhance financial inclusion, and provide sustainable value.

“To the residents of Effurun, Warri, and neighboring areas, we dedicate this new branch as a center for opportunity and prosperity, reinforcing our commitment to collaborative progress,” he concluded.
